Lighting in the home

The lighting system is an important element of the interior, attention to which is mainly paid in the last stages of repair. What are the lighting systems and what characteristics does each of them have?

To begin with, it is worth noting in itself the huge influence of light on the overall picture of the interior. He can place accents, create his own atmosphere, changing the room itself beyond recognition.

In today's world, there are a lot of different types of lamps. Let's look at and describe the most basic of them.

1. An incandescent lamp is one of the most common lighting fixtures now. It gives good light, but the disadvantages of such a lamp include the fact that it converts a huge amount of energy into heat. Because of this, hot air will constantly accumulate in the room where such a lamp is located.

2. A few years ago, fluorescent lamps were just coming into vogue, but had very few fans because of their bluish color, additional noise created and the need to control such lamps with separate devices. Now fluorescent lamps do not have these disadvantages, so they can be safely used as an alternative to incandescent lamps.

3. Metal halide and halogen lamps will not be able to illuminate a large room, but it is very convenient to place accents with their help, since the beam of light from such lamps is rather small.

4. LEDs have very good performance. Their service life in comparison with the same incandescent lamps is simply huge. These lighting devices do absolutely no harm to human health. At the same time, they also have their drawbacks. It consists in a too weak level of light output - this allows the LEDs to be operated only in conjunction with other lighting devices. In principle, this is not a problem if you want the LED to be something like a floor lamp. As a separate type of LED, there are light cords. They are very often used to create outdoor lighting, on the street, veranda or loggia.

How to correctly and correctly arrange the lamps?
If the ceiling in the room is too low, then this drawback can be corrected at least visually by placing a special lamp in the room, the reflector of which is directed upwards. If the ceiling, on the contrary, is excessively high, you can get rid of this defect by placing lamps nearby, the lighting of which is directed downwards.

It is worth noting that full-fledged lighting consists of general (for example, a chandelier) and additional (floor lamps, sconces, etc.). The latter option is suitable for supplying light to specific places, for example, to a work area or to a dining table. The same goes for the kitchen area where food is being prepared. There is a recommendation to place a weak light source behind the computer screen and TV - this will help reduce eye strain a little.

The type of lighting can be selected for each room separately. For example, weak, diffused lighting is suitable for a bedroom, which will not put much pressure and invigorate, but, on the contrary, will favor calmness and relaxation. Here you should not place much emphasis on the general light in the room, leaving a greater advantage for small lamps near the bed or bedside table. For example, a floor lamp will perfectly act as such a lighting device.

The hardest thing is to properly distribute the fixtures in a small room, for example, in a one-room apartment. Here it is this factor that strongly influences the zonal division of space.

The lighting in the bathroom is set in its own way - here the general light is created by halogen lamps, but they are complemented by small ones, which are often placed around mirrors or the bathrooms themselves.

As for the corridor and hallway, it is worth taking care of installing a strong general light. It will definitely come in handy when you need to fix your clothes or hair before leaving your home. The choice of light source in this room is usually influenced by its size. A narrow and very small corridor can, as it were, be "lit up" from other nearby rooms. For example, bright light from the living room or kitchen will perfectly cope with this task, which will visually make the miniature corridor larger.

It is impossible to name the ideal layout of lighting fixtures in the room. Everything is individual and depends on various factors, including the location of the furniture, the style of the interior, the size of the room and others. You can find specific lighting layouts in specialist magazines or create your own layout with the help of an interior designer.

During the overhaul, the lighting scheme is drawn up separately, and it takes into account the location of all rooms, furniture, and additional interior elements. Moreover, the type of floor and wall covering is taken into account.

In the lighting scheme, everything is indicated in detail, up to the place where sockets, lighting fixtures, and switches will be located.

In addition to the competent location of lighting devices, you need to pay attention to the power of each lamp. It is unlikely that a room simply illuminated by various lamps and floor lamps will look attractive. It follows from this that you should not place more lighting fixtures in one room than recommended. You can calculate this number yourself - it is not at all difficult to do this. For example, in a one-room apartment, eight lighting fixtures will be enough, half of which belong to the main system, and half to the additional one. With each room, you can add one or two lamps.

As already mentioned, before the repair, a detailed drawing is created, in which all information about the future lighting system is transmitted. This circuit may include different switches of the same device - such a move does not interfere at all in spacious rooms.

It is worth noting that any lighting fixture emits its own type of light.

- warm light - basically, it is on it that most customers stop their attention. It helps to create a cozy atmosphere in the room, and in itself has a slightly yellow tint;

- cold light. This lighting option is rarely used in a home - it is most common in offices, restaurants and other establishments;

- daylight is a neutral and local lighting that is necessary to better illuminate your workplace in the office or in the kitchen.

In general, it is better to find out in advance what color rendering level a particular lamp has in order to compare it with the one that is optimal for a person.

Lighting devices can be placed in different places - a separate classification is also provided for this criterion.

Suspended - basically, these are chandeliers and similar lamps that create a general light. There are also surface lighting devices - by means of special devices they are fixed on the ceiling. This option will look great if the room does not have a very high ceiling. Pendant lamps can have both one and several lamps.

Recessed fixtures - these are usually mounted directly into the false ceiling structure. As a variant of such lighting devices are spot or panel lights. They can direct beams of light in different directions, but the main thing is that the lighting is distributed evenly. You will have the ability to control the direction of the light, as well as change the angle of illumination.

Wall. These lamps are available in various variations and colors. As a rule, they are used quite widely, and lighting is created using fluorescent lamps and incandescent lamps. These lamps include sconces and you can place it anywhere your heart desires.

Floor. Basically, floor lamps belong to this category. They are used not only as lighting fixtures, but also as a decorative item that complements a particular interior style. Floor lamps can be made from various materials, including wood, plastic, and so on.

Before choosing a lamp, you need to clarify whether you want to put it really for the purpose of lighting or as a decor item. If the first option is chosen, decide whether it will create diffused or directional light.

Consult with a professional interior designer to ensure that the light fixture you choose matches perfectly with everything in the room.
